Winter Sports Update- Wrestling

The Paint Branch wrestling team struggled in the last part of the regular season in large part due to injuries in four weight classes. The Panthers finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-11. The varsity and junior varsity are preparing for post-season tournaments including the Montgomery County tournament at Gaithersburg High School, the North Regionals at Milford Mill High School, and the State Tournament at Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD.
Strong performances by several Panthers led the way this season. The team finished 1st in the Rockville Rumble Duals for the second year in a row as Brian Trinh, Dhedhus Anumgba, and Tommy Bettinger all went 8-1, while Austin Smith and Wafeu Fundjing each went 9-0. Two weeks later the team took 6th at their own Panther Invitational Tournament (PIT). Strong performances by Tournament Champions Trinh (106 lbs) and Anumgba (160 lbs) led the way. Fundjing finished 3rd, while Jonathan Dogba, Bettinger and Smith finished 4th.
