On Friday, September 21 at Blair High School, the home team was blown out. In a 40-14 finish, the Paint Branch Panthers took it to the Blazers in a hard-fought battle. The Panthers moved to 4-0 on the season with the win while the Blazers dropped to 2-2.

The Panthers started off strong and scored in the first 5 minutes with a touchdown on a 4 yard pass from senior quarterback Norman Douglas, Jr. to the fellow senior Max Davis. The extra point by senior Tyler Pryzgocki was good, and the Panthers were up 7-0.

The Panthers added to their lead with another touchdown with a 35-yard pass from Douglas to junior Larry Hackey. Again Pryzgocki made the extra point. In the quarter, the Panthers would not let the 2-1 Blazers score.

Throughout the first half, the Panthers and Blazers cheer and band teams motivated the players and the crowd by being very loud and energetic throughout this battle. While it was an away game for Panthers and the crowd was not as big or hyped as in a home game, there was still strong support.

The Panthers excited the crowd when senior Kyree Lenn intercepted a pass and ran 30 yards before getting tackled. The Panthers capitalized just moments later as Lenn scored again and Pryzgocki made the extra point to put the Panthers up 21-0.

In the second quarter, the Blazers finally got going. They made it close with their first touchdown in the beginning of the quarter to cut it to 21-7 with the extra point.

As people in the crowd screamed and tried to rally the Panthers, the Blazers scored again to send it to halftime with the score much closer at 21-14, PB. The Blazers pom team and band came out and gave an excellent performance at halftime. The crowd enjoyed the excellent show as they got hyped and ready for a big second half. Following the performances, the cheerleading teams came together and made a cheer circle.

The Panthers roared into the second half and added three touchdowns to put the Blazers away. While the final score looked lopsided at 40-14, it was much closer than that. Both teams played hard, but PB found a way to rise up and get the win.
