JV Football Takes Down Kennedy

On Thursday September 19, the junior varsity football team played an away game at Kennedy. The Panthers beat the Cavaliers 20-0 in a game where Kennedy didn’t manage to get a single point as the Panthers dominated their field. The boys won their first game of the season after a tie with Blake in their first game.

In the first half, the Panthers put points on the board as freshman Jarvis Tillman made the first touchdown on a pass. After the touchdown, they went for a two-point conversion but failed to make it and took a 6-0 lead. On the first snap after Kennedy took the kickoff, they fumbled the ball, and PB recovered it near the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Panthers took the ball down the field and successfully capped the drive with a touchdown, but the play was called back due to a holding call on freshman Nebeyu Samuel. However, the Panthers would not have to wait long to celebrate, as only one play later, they took it into the end zone on a run that staked them to a 14-0 lead.

As the second half began, the Panthers looked to build on their 14-0 lead.  The Panthers’ defense forced several Kennedy fumbles, and the Cavaliers had a hard time getting anything started throughout the entire game. The Panthers capitalized on their mistakes and were able to score points in the second half.  Sophomore Steven White finished the scoring on a 60-yard punt return.

While the Panthers won the game 20-0, freshman Christopher Pamah said, “It still felt like a loss” because they were not playing in unison.  Pamah felt that the team can play better, which is what they hope to do when they take on Churchill in their next game on September 27th.
