U.S. Motorcyclist Goes Missing in Mexico

An audacious motorcycle cross-country adventure turned into an alarming disappearance case for the family of Harry Devert, a 32-year-old New York native.

According to FoxNews Latino, Devert’s family has not heard from their son since January 25, 2014.  Devert was on a motorcycle journey that cut across the United States before heading to Latin America.  Devert was riding his motorcycle through Michoacan, an area that FoxNews Latino called “a highly volatile area in Mexico.”

Devert was last heard from on January 25th when his girlfriend, Sarah Schiear, received what she told FoxNews Latino was  “a brooding message via WhatsApp.”  Schiear reported that Devert’s message stated that he had just been led out of town by a tedious police escort.

Devert’s sudden disappearance alarmed his family who have made an international plea for his return.  FoxNews Latino reported that Devert was traveling on a green Kawasaki motorcycle and made plans to visit a beach in Zihuatanejo, on the Pacific Coast.  As of February 7, 2014, the U.S. Embassy has been working with Mexican officials to find the whereabouts of Devert.
