Local Maryland Rapper Logic Excites All

Sir Robert Bryson Hall II was born January 22, 1990 in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This half African-American, half Caucasian, twenty-three-year-old attended Gaithersburg High School but did not graduate because he had to deal with his crack-addicted, alcoholic mother.

Sir Byson Hall, better known for his stage name, Logic, overcame these issues and achieved success. He currently has four mix tapes and is working on his first studio album with Def Jam Records and Visionary Music Group.  His mix tapes are titled Young, Broke, and Infamous; Young Sinatra; Young Sinatra: Undeniable and, his most recent, Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever.

Logic’s original stage name was Psychological because he wanted a name that really stuck with people, but he shortened it to Logic. His mentor was Solon Taylor, who helped him early in his career. He cites Frank Sinatra as a major influence on his music, which may explain why he says in one of his songs, “I am the reincarnation of Frank Sinatra.”

On June 23, 2013 at The Filmore in Silver Spring, I was lucky enough to attend his concert. Logic had been on a European and American tour called the “Welcome to Forever” tour before stopping in the DC area for some shows. It is one of the best concerts I have ever been to. With hot, sweaty, hopeful teenagers filling the venue, the excitement level was high. I have to admit; even the opening acts truly hyped the crowd. With fans, including myself, cheering “Logic, Logic, Logic,” he eventually came on stage. With the crowd dancing, music blasting, and stage diving, this concert was out of this world. He even brought his father and his little brother on stage and introduced them to everyone to show the world they are reconnected and that he is finally successful, despite his difficult childhood.

Logic is really in touch with his fans. He has meet-and-greets, posts YouTube videos from each of his concerts, receives gifts from hopeful fans, and tweets back to fans including myself.

Logic is currently working on his yet-unnamed album and is also dropping new singles such as his latest, “Two Kings” and “20/20.”

Stay tuned for more mind blowing music from Logic.
