Title Drought to End for Chicago in World Series

Look for the Cubs to Finally Break the Billy Goat Curse

The 2016 MLB World Series pits the Chicago Cubs against the Cleveland Indians. The Cubs have not been to the World Series since 1945 and have not won it since 1908. The Indians have not won it since 1948. This World Series is truly a tale of two teams that have faced serious championship drought and that have many players who have not had much postseason experience. This should be a thrilling series.

The Cubs come in with one of the best rotations in the MLB, with the three-headed monster of Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, and Kyle Hendricks. They will most likely only start those three pitchers throughout the whole series, giving them the best chance to shut down the Indians’ offense. Also, catcher Kyle Schwarber is coming back from a knee injury that kept him out for the majority of the regular season. Even if he is not back to being 100%, I still see him as the X-factor in this series.

The Indians don’t have many players that are considered “superstars”, and they have been without their best outfielder, Michael Brantley, for the whole year. However, they just find ways to win. Their best starter, Corey Kluber, will have a great series. I do not believe that the Cubs hitters are disciplined enough to be able to hit Kluber well. The big factor for the Indians is Francisco Lindor. Lindor is a five tool player, having a .301 batting average, 15 home runs, and 19 stolen bases in the regular season. However, he is only 22 years of age and has never played in the World Series before. If he can control his emotions and play with the same hungry attitude he has played with the whole year, I could see the Indians making this a very interesting series.

The Cubs will win the World Series in 7 games due to their overpowering pitching rotation. They will break the 108 year drought and hoist up the trophy for the first time since 1908.
