In Netflix vs. Hulu Battle – Hulu Wins

Eric Lugo-Lopez, Staff Writer

Which one do you prefer, Netflix or Hulu? This is actually a tough decision as both have their positives, like Netflix is  cheap and Hulu has some good shows.

Netflix really has gotten popular for many aspects that it offers, including some great original programming like  Orange is the New Black.  Viewers have to register and sign up for a monthly subscription in order to watch the shows.  Netflix can be accessed anywhere from your TV to your phone or iPad. Netflix has really progressed recently, and now it has a download mode where you can download a TV show or movie and watch with no Wifi or Internet data. Netflix – it’s easy to play with, easy to get used to, and easy to get hooked on. Forty-nine million people use Netflix in the U.S. alone, and ninety-three million people use Netflix worldwide, so you know it’s good.

Hulu was founded 10 years ago and it serves only the U.S. and Japan. On HULU, in order to view the shows, you have to register and pay a monthly fee that allows for watching either with without commercials. For $7.99 monthly, you can watch  shows with ads, and for $11.99 monthly, you can watch shows without ads. It has only twelve-million users as of May 2016, which is not as popular, but it has its fans.

Netflix shows are available after the last season of the shows airs on regular TV, while Hulu has the show’s episodes the day after it has aired on TV. Hulu has a few original series including Casual, The Path, and Shut Eye and some more in the works. It will take them a while to catch up to Netflix, which has over fifty original shows. Both services compete against Amazon video, a hub for subscribers that pay monthly and can watch shows and movies that recently aired on TV or have recently been in the movie theatres.

Netflix and Hulu are two big companies that both have unique features. Some prefer to stick with Netflix and others, like me, prefer to stick with Hulu because the shows will be up and ready to watch in 24 hours. Hulu is great, and it’s a mock cable system that lets you watch TV shows and movies for only $11.99 max.
