Senior Goodbye: Aliyu Saadu – Staff Writer

Aliyu Saadu, Satff Writer

My experience in journalism has been the best experience of my life. Journalism is a class where you can voice your opinion and write what you like. Journalism gives you a voice that you can relate to. When I first joined the class, I didn’t know what to expect. I thought I was going to write what I wanted to write to start, but it didn’t work that way because we had to write what the teacher wanted us to write, and it was not something I truly enjoyed doing.

The first year I took journalism we wrote, but we also did cartoons, pro/con articles, and other journalism-based work. This was stuff I did not want to do because I really just wanted to write articles. It got better toward the end of the year because I began writing more sports articles, which gave me good experience. This year, my senior year, has been really nice because I have written so many sports articles about interesting topics like the National Anthem Protest, Smacktalk with Steven, DC Sports Curse, and an MLB Preview. I want to thank Mr. Woodward for letting me write so many sports articles and letting me express myself. Without Mr. Woodward’s help, I wouldn’t be a successful writer at all because he has helped me so much with how I should explain this and how should I explain that. I am glad I signed up for journalism, because I finally had a voice and was able to write what I wanted to write about all the time.
