Senior Goodbye: Tari Owei – Staff Writer

Tari Owei, Staff Writer

I’ve always liked to write – whether I’m good at it or not. It’s an expression of freedom I rarely have time for in my life. When I took Journalism 1 last year, I expected to have that freedom to write, but Journalism 1 was more difficult than the rumors I had previously heard about. . . or maybe it was my discomfort with my own writing style that made it difficult. Despite the fact that these difficulties reared their ugly heads time after time, I still wrote.

I didn’t enjoy any of my pieces until the end of the year when I wrote about buses. I thought that piece was a bit funny actually. I believe it was my enjoyment of that article that made me sign up for Mainstream. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take the class until second semester, but these past few months have definitely been worth it! I have loved writing my articles thus far, although my last feature made me want to rip my hair out! I think every student, or those who enjoy writing at least, should sign up for journalism. You will broaden your writing in the class, and it’s fun to see your own writing in a printed newspaper or on a website. Thanks, Mainstream, it’s been fun.
