Siced: Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber

If this were any year before 2014, I wouldn’t have much to criticize Justin Bieber on other than the fact that he walks with his pants around his knees. However, things have drastically changed for the teen heartthrob in just the past year.

When Bieber first debuted in 2009, he was a star to watch and quickly rose to fame. His most recent album, “Believe”, sold 374,000 copies the first week of its release. His success, and also his fanbase, seem to be unlike any other (anyone other than One Direction, of course).

Like many artists, Bieber gives his fans a nickname – “Beliebers.” The dedication of his fanbase is, honestly, amazing considering they can still shed tears of support over a guy who was just arrested after driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, resisting arrest, and also driving with an expired license.

Justin Bieber continues to make headlines, but recently they have not been about how well his album is doing. It seems that Bieber is trying to become the “bad-boy” of the music industry, and I have to say it’s really not working out. Bieber’s wild-child actions have shocked the public.

In early January, Justin Bieber was the prime suspect in the case of an egging. Reports say Bieber egged his neighbors home and caused $20,000 worth of damage. A dozen police officers raided Bieber’s home after this incident was reported.

I’ll repeat that. A dozen police officers. Why were twelve officers necessary to search the home because of an egging? I highly doubt they were going to find a chicken as an eye witness. The police went through the trouble of getting a search warrant and for what? It’s not like Bieber can’t easily pay for the damages. I’m sure more serious crimes were happening during the time the police took to raid a popstar’s house.

How fed up is the public? Well, a petition has gone to the White House, demanding the deportation of Justin Bieber. If I’m not mistaken, the President has more to worry about than deporting a Canadian teenager. It worries me that people are so invested in Justin Bieber’s life that they’re going to such lengths. Let’s get real; everyday teenagers are smoking marijuana, drinking, and having run-ins with the law, but you don’t see them on the news and all over the headlines. It’s because they’re not famous. Many Beliebers have expressed their disapproval of his actions but continue to stand by him.   However, I highly doubt they would show any amount of support for a random guy committing the same crimes. Justin Bieber’s actions are deviant but, when you look at the big picture and come to terms with reality, he’s doing “mundane” teenage things.
